Hello there!

Just put a depsoit on this car, its awaiting an MOT and a full AA inspection before I hand over the rest of the money!.

First thing I am going to do is get the cambelt kit done and variator, balance belt and water-pump. Its due as the car is on 61k and it was done at 32k before.

I live in Bradford and I have been trawling the forums. Bearings was literally 10 min drive from me gutted its no longer open, so I am thinking CW Lear (Perseverence Garage) in Keighley or Italia Autosports in Hudds. Is Alfa Tech still open in Hudds?

A lot of the posts regarding garages in West Yorkshire are kind of old, so please let me know if you know someone who does stuff like this well.:) How much will it cost approx for all that (it might be overkill but its my own peace of mind!) lol

I have a very good family mechanic who is a Renault specialist and I have always taken any of my cars to him, as he is honest and fair. But this car I want the independent touch esp with all the belts and stuff, but for general servicing and oil changes will take it to my family mechanic.

Anyway thank you for having me, and I cant believe I finally have an alfa its such a sexy car!

Well it passed it MOT it needed upper wishbones and a new anti roll bar, which he has paid for.

I have booked an AA inspection on the car, so just waiting for that to be done now

Had the AA inspection:

Said some of the arches had been repainted at some point, most likely cosmetic as there is no damage visible anywhere.

The wax oil protection under the car is wearing out and he recommends that it gets re done at some point to avoid any corrosion. he said any mechanic could do this and it wasn't very expensive to do

The front of the exhaust is still the standard bit that came with the car, its working fine but he says it'll most likely be due at some point

and the usual stone chips etc for the age of the car its in good condition

A picture of my clean car!

looking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet:thumbs:

Alfa Tech in Hudds did the full cambelt service, cambelt kit, water pump, variator and balance belt/tensioner 500+vat, CW Lear in Bradford which would have been closer had a 2 week wait, and I couldn't wait that long (I was excited but refused to drive the car till I had the cambelt done and I was happy)

I asked them to have a quick look round while they had the engine open, they called me and said that camshaft number 3 was showing signs of wear (or something along those lines)...although it was running fine at the moment if it went later the cambelt and the lot would have to come off. He said a brand new one was about 400 quid plus labour, although he had one from another engine he could put in which was in very good condition for 100 and I could have the car back same day...so I went with that. He mentioned that it was a common thing on the JTS engine?? They showed me the old one and how it had worn out when I picked it up.

Apart from that he gave the car a clean bill of health and practically made me promise to check the oil on a regular basis!!

I talked to him in depth about oil and they use fully synth 10w40 unless you ask and are willing to pay the extra for selina 10w60, they don't see it as an issue and recommend 10w40 fully synth.

I also mentioned the turpentine substitute in a full tank of fuel to clean injectors and he recommended it.

I asked him about window nodes and upgrading the ecu software and he said first he had heard of it?

He said they didn't do the waxoyl underseal thing either.

and boyyy is it a gorgeous drive and I have no need to watch porn now ever again...I can just look at the car lol

Everybody that has seen it and taken it for a spin comes back with a whole new view on alfas
