So I've owned my 62 Veloce for 7 months now and I've had the same intermittent issue from week 2.

This can happen at any time but the most common occurrence is when slowing naturally by taking my foot off the accelerator while doing any speed in any gear and then reapplying power. Next thing it feels like its dropping a cylinder and the car judders and has very little power, this lasts for 20sec - 2 mins.

Thankfully my car is under extended warranty as I purchased it through an Alfa dealership so I took it in when this first happened and was told to check the oil and make sure its topped up with the correct oil. it had been serviced 2 weeks before hand by them so thought this was odd but the next morning I checked and it was mid way so I topped her up a little.
The problem persisted without any real regularity being fine for days or weeks at a time before being horrendous for a few days. I went back to Alfa again and they had it a week while I was away only to be told they couldn't replicate the fault and it must be my driving, my wife's driving and our friends driving who have all had this problem!
long story short it has now spent another 3 weeks in with alfa who have now replicate the issue but have said as there is no warring lights or error codes logged so there isn't anything they can do as they need this in order to advance. Data has been sent off to Alfa's tech team to look at and I've been told nothing was found. When I picked the car up on Friday they said it was fixed and it was a faulty/loose cable. I found this to be incorrect when attempting to overtake a lorry on Sunday and the engine stalled and I had to pull back in behind it with the car behind me extremely close to hitting me.

So tonight my much loved(not sure why but I do lover her) car is being parked in front of the dealerships door until they deal with it. I'm not sure if this is a general Alfa experience or just this dealership.

My thoughts after reading lots and chatting to some alfa owners is that the multi air unit is sticking but I've also seen this normally logs a code. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the problem and any advice as to how to deal with the dealer. I'm starting to look down legal avenues through my work but would rather not have to start all that but want it fixed before my warranty (for what its worth) runs out in Aug.

Sorry for the rant, I'll go back to banging my head on my desk now!

this dealership. !
My number one advice, ring Alfa UK head office.
Don't be rude, angry or let your emotions get the best of you, but clearly state what happened, when it happened, when you went to dealer (and who you spoke too) and what the outcome of the dealer diagnosis was. Writing a time line down first may really help.
Then ask them to solve the problem, as you think the car is unsafe as it may cut out on a roundabout or intersection when you accelerate

They will ring the dealer and check facts.
They may be able to help the dealer diagnosis the problem or send a specialist mechanic from head office. All while your driving the free dealer loan car.

I don't know of the number of times I have seen people get the run around from a dealership mechanic who can't diagnosis the problem and don't bother to ask the head office for help.
Yet the head office has a list of know problems and solutions collected from all the dealers and trained service technicians.

Good luck, your Giulietta wants a bit of good mechanic love'n!
