So I've owned my 62 Veloce for 7 months now and I've had the same intermittent issue from week 2.
This can happen at any time but the most common occurrence is when slowing naturally by taking my foot off the accelerator while doing any speed in any gear and then reapplying power. Next thing it feels like its dropping a cylinder and the car judders and has very little power, this lasts for 20sec - 2 mins.
Thankfully my car is under extended warranty as I purchased it through an Alfa dealership so I took it in when this first happened and was told to check the oil and make sure its topped up with the correct oil. it had been serviced 2 weeks before hand by them so thought this was odd but the next morning I checked and it was mid way so I topped her up a little.
The problem persisted without any real regularity being fine for days or weeks at a time before being horrendous for a few days. I went back to Alfa again and they had it a week while I was away only to be told they couldn't replicate the fault and it must be my driving, my wife's driving and our friends driving who have all had this problem!
long story short it has now spent another 3 weeks in with alfa who have now replicate the issue but have said as there is no warring lights or error codes logged so there isn't anything they can do as they need this in order to advance. Data has been sent off to Alfa's tech team to look at and I've been told nothing was found. When I picked the car up on Friday they said it was fixed and it was a faulty/loose cable. I found this to be incorrect when attempting to overtake a lorry on Sunday and the engine stalled and I had to pull back in behind it with the car behind me extremely close to hitting me.
So tonight my much loved(not sure why but I do lover her) car is being parked in front of the dealerships door until they deal with it. I'm not sure if this is a general Alfa experience or just this dealership.
My thoughts after reading lots and chatting to some alfa owners is that the multi air unit is sticking but I've also seen this normally logs a code. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the problem and any advice as to how to deal with the dealer. I'm starting to look down legal avenues through my work but would rather not have to start all that but want it fixed before my warranty (for what its worth) runs out in Aug.
Sorry for the rant, I'll go back to banging my head on my desk now!
