Hi Guys,

Some of you know my car from other topics. Not much new after the GTB implementation, actually I've gone a little bit backwards, having "downgrading" the IC and clutch to a pretty much stock clutch.

But the point of this topic as nothing to do with the above. I very good friend of mine rebuilt my stock fuel pump. At 1800bar the stock pump did struggle to maintain its rail pressure. After the custom rebuild, it did the 1800 rail pressure with ease, using less than 70% of duty cycle.

So, we got ambitious ... and we upgraded the stock rail sensor to a 2200bar counterpart, the result?, [email protected] ... sustained!

should this be copied to tuning section aswell?
what was custom rebuild, standard replacement parts or something similar to yankos using larger lobe cam inside ?
how much has this enabled soi to be retarded or if not adjusted how much has it brought down egt with a faster duration.
the guys seem to have found a reliable good place to source upgraded injectors with calibration data(search dp race on here), hope to see you back in the tuning lounge soon.

That is an interesting upgrade with nice result!
Looks like you didn't downgrade topend power.

The difference in duration can be calculated, but I do wonder about the EGT!

Just for interest I've been playing with those figures:
Hydraulic output power of the pump = 2 Hp
So power from engine = 4 to 5 Hp? There must be a law of diminishing returns here.
Total power input from fuel = 680 Hp
Assuming 260 Hp output, efficiency = 38% (like us).
Heat rejected = 420 Hp or 313 Kw!
Air fuel ratio = 17.5 : 1. Is this good by diesel standards? Smoke limited?
