Yes, I'm selling it. I'm going back to Rovers, being a sentimental old fluff. I feel as though I've dumped my gross old girlfriend for a supermodel, and I just want my minger back.

66k, FSH. It does need attention in a few areas, all is in the description. Apart from the air con it's had the problems since I bought it. Problem is the garage is 300 miles away and I've had a long, tense legal exchange of letters with them, but my job has just picked up by 100mph, as has the pay, and I'm just pushing the issue out of my life. I just need a life without high-end cars for a while. Hence why I'm buying a Rover. Not so much a car, more of a sort of... bean bag...

I digress. Bids and offers welcome, of course. 27 watchers! What does that really mean anyway? Probably all just want to see how much money this poor sod loses on a car he bought 4 months ago for 5 grand. As you can tell I'm not into pressure selling.

The old 800's are great cars - i had a vit sport before my first twink and i still have a soft spot for them (my missus hated it though!)

What's up with the gearbox BTW?

Eh... the gearbox is complicated. My mechanic described it as "weak syncro hubs in 1st and 2nd". Basically the gear change is sometimes stiff, and 3rd is sometimes noisy.

In essence it needs taking apart and putting back together again by someone who knows what they are doing. Problem is my nearest Alfa specialist is almost an hour away. Woe is me.

Yes, Rovers are the ultimate turn-off to a woman. You should have seen the look on my Rachel's face when I told her I was changing the beautiful, stylish italian saloon for a wobbly old Brit rocket "cos it's so rubbish it's fun!". I tell you what mind... going from a T-spark to a Rover 4-pot there's a hell of a difference. I'd forgotten how lumpy and dreadful sounding most 4 cylinder engines are. It's something you take for granted with an Alfa.

That turbo really transforms the Rover 2.0 into a seriously fun engine. Imagine if it sounded like a t-spark... I'd kill for a turbo T-spark, or a JTS as I guess they are these days. But no nancying around Alfa, make it powerful. Ho ho.
