Spent some time and some TLC on the car yesterday and today and have done what seem to be the following "classic" GTV jobs.
1. Replaced the Clutch slave cylinder and rebled the clutch.
2. Ziptied the seat belt tensioners and had the airbag light reset, though fault on diagnostic showed as "intermitant drivers tensioning squib" so i'll have to see how long it lasts this time.
3. Repaired and refitted the door pillar rubbers.
4. Reset the stops on both windows so now they close within the seals.
5. Checked the rear suspension bushings.
Just off to give it a good wash and wax followed by a good thrashing and thinking about what to spend the cash on that i've saved on labour!
Have been doing the same over the past few weeks.
Fitted new front pipe bracket and as the heat shield had to come off replaced it with a new one as the old one was cracked.
Also replaced all nuts and bolts that were rusted under the hood with stainless ones and used copper slip on the threads including the belly pans, cleaned all plastic parts with soapy water and then rubbed in some spray lube.
Fitted Tarox drilled and grooved discs and fast road pads and did the calliper thing with the Alfa script,re-undersealed the underside,Took off all interior door trims & quater panel trim and sprayed rust-ox in behind also in the sills, lubed all window parts, replaced n/s q/trim as this was cracked, oil and filter change, and lots of other stuff, but i feel some of you are getting bored by now But at the end of this mammoth things to do list i then spent 6 Houres waxing and polishing only for it to rain two days later But i love her and would do it all again
Hi Simon i used Tetroseal, cost about £3.99 per can.Make sure the underside is dry before using and only do the bits that are already done (i did do a bit more around the back end). Also pick off any loose bits first.I used nearly two cans although i applied a heavy coat and then a week later did another coat.Keep it away from the exhaust and any rubber mounts.
Any idea where I could buy new GTV door rubbers? Mine are goosed.
Thanks
Allan
