A few years ago  I used to go to the 1000km races
at the Nurburgring. Below are two videos that show how fabulous
an event it was for big sportscars of the time.

1971 ADAC 1000 km Nürburgring - Porsche vs Ferrari - YouTube

and there is more of a flavour of the racing here

1966 Nurburgring 1000 km - YouTube

Just the names of the drivers bring back fabulous memories:
Siffert, Rodrigues, Pescarolo, Elford and Larrousse.

and the cars... Ferrari 512's, Alfa P33's, Porsche 908, 910's

So what have I bought myself......

Well it's a 1/12 scale model of the fabulous Porsche 910

It's been reissued by Tamiya and I reckon it'll take me about
9 months to build and "super detail" it.

1/12 Porsche 910 (w/Photo-Etched Parts)

I've never built a model car before so I'm looking forward  to
the challenge

I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year,

There was a good article in Auto Italia in 2009 about the 512 they burned out filming Steve Mc Queens Le Mans :D

They wanted to leave it behind at the track but were told they couldn't leave "litter"

It was carted back to Paris and left in a warehouse, that was until Nick Mason heard about it :D

It's now fully restored and worth several million £££££

The same article featured the Porche 917 :D :D :D
