Hi all,

Is anyone able to confirm firstly that this is the right thermostat for a year 2000 (W) 156 1.8TS Sportwagen, and also whether it's any good?

VERNET Alfa Romeo | Car Parts 4 Less UK

My top hose gets hot after about 5 minutes from cold startup with the engine just ticking over and my temp gauge never gets over about 65 degrees (less if I turn the heater on), so I'm assuming my thermostat is shot.

Thanks for your help guys.

John.

It never gets over about 65 on tickover - even after 15 mins. The only time it reaches 90 is if I'm sat in traffic once the engine has been running for 20 minutes or so.

Buy a new thermostat. Make not really important they all seem to last a few years and die anyway.
Just get a competativly priced one.

Vernet should be OK ... I think others on here have used them.

There fine. Mines one and its been doing its job perfectly for the last year and 10k.
They are not exactly the most complex parts anyway.

Thanks for your help guys - now ordered. I presume it takes less than an hour to fit (by my mechanic!)?
