YouTube - Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 JTS

what a loon.

Back to topic.....

try disconnecting the AUX belt & see if the noise continues

if it doesn't then it could be air-con compressor, alternator or power steering related

Will try taking Aux belt off.

Is it a serious noise to worry about?

It seems to be louder when its cold in the morning, the when the engines idling it stops!

My mates newer type Brava had the same kind of noise... It turned out to be the alternator.... It was only six month old but the bushes were dirty and caused the main shaft/ pulley bearing to whine with drag...
Not saying it is that... But as the rest of the lads have suggested... Aux belt off and it narrows down the root cause ;)
