Sorry for the dumb question, I know JTS stands for Jet Thrust s....

but what is the big difference? Is one harder or more expensive to work on or have worked on?

does the JTS still fall under the new cambelt 3yr/36,000m?

any big problems with them.

thanks Alfistis'

The core engine is basically the same, so yes the 3-year/36000mile cambelt still applies.

The difference is that it uses direct injection, only 4 sparkplugs and runs a higher compression ratio.

thanks for the quick response David,

I guess the most important q is which is faster? and less so, which has better fuel economy?

I think that the purpose of JTS is more about emissions and efficiency than outright power. However saying that the JTS was (supposed) to push out 155bhp and the TS 150bhp but it has been stated on here that some JTS engines were shipped with more like 140BHP from new.

The 2.0TS in the 156 started with 155bhp and in Europe dropped to 150bhp in Sept 2000 (I understand Australia kept the 155bhp version).
Yes the 2.0JTS should have 165bhp, but many have been well short of that.

There isn't much performance difference between a 155bhp 2.0TS and a 165bhp 2.0JTS when it does have 165.

Wasn't the drop in power when it went CF3 from CF2?
....and in the 147 it has always been 150bhp hasn't it?

There was never a Euro2 147 because Euro3 arrived in Sept 2000 and the 147 arrived in 2001.

Euro2 2.0TS = 155bhp
Euro3 2.0TS = 150bhp

Thanks for the responses.

I guess the plus side is you only have to replace 4 plugs instead of 8.

IMO the TS is a better engine.

It seems to rev more freely, sounds better and feels faster.

Fuel economy is about the same.
