So, with this well constructed law, if someone steals your car
and gets busted for speeding, you loose your car?

Police Minister Rob Johnson said he sympathised with the owner but that the law acted as a strong deterrent to hoons.

In what way? the mechanic who drove the car like that is not being detered because it is not HIS car that has been impounded

idiotic law....hardly surprising though if the Aussies have taken their lead in the past from the idiots here....obviously still content to come up with prize ones of their own.

it does seem a little backward and draconian....

the guy who did the crime should have had his own car taken off him
