So my tried to buy insurance today. Bell insurance state the transaction has not gone through.
I phone my bank, 'a debit card payment was authorised by us for xxx amount to bell insurance' the bank cannot cancel it until it's been received.

Phone bell back & they state payment did not go through and they can't cancel transaction as 'they didn't take payment'!

ARGH WTF I need bell's bank merchant to fax MY bank to cancel a transaction that in their eyes does not exist.

So ATM I over £100 out of pocket with no insurance!!!!

The transaction will be pending debit. (Pre-authorised)

If they have first pre-authorised the transaction, then put it through again seperately then the first amount will stay pre-authorised for a few days.

In this time, you won't be able to remove the first amount from your bank.

I had thuis with Asda, pre-authorising one amount, then charging me a different amount the next day. I was unable to spend money for 4 days until the pre-authorisation onn the first amount expired.

If the transaction is pending debit, I don't think they can do anything. You will have to wait a couple of days for it to expire.
