Well I have started painting so lets see how it turns out first. I can also look at the 3M tape as well. Probably pull the tape off on Friday when on Easter break. Hope it looks ok.

My thoughts:
People apparently think you've got a 2017 model. You haven't. However, when they get close they see the quality of execution and assume Alfa Romeo made it. And to a low standard.
This impression isn't good for anybody and as you haven't got a 2017, and all the developments that come with it, the bumper should be left 2011. That's my opinion.

Ok here is how it turned out with plastidip.

My thoughts :

1) The red line is a little too wide. I need to use the 3M Tape as suggested previously

2) From a distance it looks ok rather than close up. There is still some tidying up to do.

3) I have changed my number plate also.

Ok looks like some people have become upsett unecessarily so.

So I have taken out the bad photos to give it a better look.

As people know its a work in progress and I dont give up on the first attempt because some one said I cant do something.

Also if you were not aware cars are double the price in Australia as they are in the UK/Europe so its not always easy to buy a late model car.

Like I said in the last sentence of my post. :)

Fred, if you are unhappy with the result, one thing you could do is plastidip the join between the bottom of the scudetto and the lower intake, to make the lower part look more 'detached'. You could also do the same with the join between the lower spoiler below the fog lights and the lower intake. All it does is sharpen up the edges and elaborate the lower intake. It's not factory I know but it would avoid the expanse of plastidip if this is your concern.

I bought 3 or 4 red "3M" style tapes and none of them are acceptable imho

So I returned to touching up the Plastidip version I already had.

This time I measured the exact width of the strip which is exactly 19 mm from the new car in the showroom (photos on the left). And I also learned to paint straight lines by pulling the tape off while its still wet.

So now Im more satisfied with the result. The width is correct and the lines are straight. There are still some surface blemishes from the touch up so If I wanted to be a perfectionist I would do it again. But since I have limited time I will accept it the way it is now. So I would give the job an 8/10

But it does look close to the real thing.

(Plastidip is still wet in the last photo so ignore that)

I actually like new the lower spoiler, but im not a big lover of the new grill.
I think it makes the lights look small and the front out of proportion :boxedin:
And where can i find that spoiler ?, UK Ebay doesnt list it
Forget that, found the site of the pic, but my Italian is not up to it.

I am basically very happy with the result. People think it is a new car from the front and it certainly captures peoples attention when they look at the front of the car.

I have only seen 1 other Scudetto grille car on the road in Sydney and that was near the dealer. So it is very rare and nice to have a "new" look car.

The new fog lamp surrounds, since 2014, are bigger in the opening and the ring around the lamp is bigger. The honeycomb mesh in the lower grille is bigger(fewer honeycombs in the opening) . I'm still concerned that on relatively close examination the poor execution of Fred's painting will be mistaken for a real Alfa part which is decaying/repaired? It gives the impression at a distance though.
