Hello Everyone,

Well in response to my dual mass flywheel failure symptoms post, I think I may have found the cause of the problem (clunking noise when taking reaching the biting point, made even worse by going from first to reverse for example).

I have taken a video of the passenger side inner CV joint and shaft:

Ignoring my thick accent :) when the drive gets taken up, can you see how the driveshaft doesn't move in relation to the CV joint / inner gearbox coupling?

Surely this isn't correct, and this is the cause of the noise? Looks like it may be a new driveshaft for me.....

Thanks all

Ben

Yeah,;) that doesn't look right to me, cheaper than a clutch/flywheel change

Hopefully this is it then, spoken to a driveshaft specialist who seems to agree it's gone. Will take it off this week and hopefully get it over to them to refurb it, have been quoted £150 for a secondhand shaft, specialist said anything from £50 to £80 for a refurb :)

Hopefully it isn't too far gone, annoyingly, I discarded a driveshaft from a hub I'd bought last month  And the shafts are the same each side as well! Yes, I'm an idiot :D

OK, driveshaft off and the inner CV is definitely knackered, thing is, it's also killed the shaft by the looks of it :(

Anyone got a spare shaft? :)
