On friday morning I was woken up by the alarm as per normal.

I turned over and stretched then click went my neck. Instantly I suffered immense pain down my neck, right shoulder and right arm.

The pain was so great that it made me panic and then pass out and the Mrs phoned for an ambulance. After being hooked up to various machines to check my heart, breathing, blood pressure and blood oxygen I was told I didn't need to go to hospital, but just needed painkillers and rest

Today I still feel rather stiff but am much better. I spent two whole days led on my back just trying to find a position where I wouldn't be in excruciating pain. Co-codamol didn't seem to have any effect on it.

It seems like I may have somehow trapped a nerve, but I am going to see the GP tomorrow to see if I can get it investigated further as i don't want a reoccurance at a later date.

Has anyone else done themselves a nasty in similar unlikely circumstances?

No. However do I know someone family friend who knocked themself out in their lounge floor. Naked from the waist down, they woke up to see a man on ladder painting the outside of their first floor flat!

I once scaled a wall whilst young, drunk and invincible. I thought nothing of it at the time but woke up to find that I'd taken the skin off from my armpit to my elbow. Never did get the blood out of my shirt.

I have a scar on my shoulder from a tangle with a barbed wire fence when I was even younger. And one on my cheek from when I was younger than that.

I've got a load of scar tissue on my elbow from an incident involving a Raleigh Chopper and a huge ramp.

My most impressive injuries stem from laziness rather than silliness. One Monday morning, I decided to go to work without shaving. The result was a head-on crash with a bus. A broken nose, shattered cheekbone, broken jaw, a good few broken tooth. After a bit of surgery and some bits of titanium, I was nearly as good as new. Having gone in unshaven on a Monday since.

Last month, in France, sitting in my campervan having breakfast I leaned forwards to drop a tissue in the waste bin and my back went. My lumbar muscles are weak from a motor cycle accident 50 years ago, but tis was in a different league. I coould only stand by hand walking up furniture. Once vertical I coould walk pain free, I could als sit pain free, but the transition was difficult to say the least.

My French was given a thorough workout at the TIC finding out the locatiion of a doctor. Then as I was hunting the surgery I spotted the plate of a sports physio who could see me later that day. We communicated in mixture of French and English and after a brief manipulation I achieved some degree of comfort which, with care and painkillers, saw me through the remainder of the holiday.

My back has gone numerous times over the ears and invariably after lifting something like an empty box, never shifting something heavy.

After my lower spine connected with a concrete bollard in 1982, how I managed to get in front of my bike I do not know, bloody thing hit me back into the bollard 1 second after, things have never been great spine wise.
Roll forward to 2002, sat in my old Mercedes bus, leant over, slightly sideways 2 discs kindly ruptured, 10 months of horrible pain, 1/2” shorter and limp pretty much all the time.

I got a paper cut on my cornea from a map once when planning a route from Adelaide to Sydney, the same cornea got a big abrasion from a BB gun some years earlier - a month of an eyepatch and constantly watering eye both times.

Every time I have my eyes tested it still gets a mention.

Three? wow, that's better than me then - I've only managed it once, albeit on a couch leg.

Burnt the sole of my foot after lighting a bonfire in my slippers. My high quality slippers melted beautifully.
