Good to read positive comments about Black & White Garage in Newbury. I'm picking up a 2.0 TS GTV from them next weekend. So far I've found them very friendly and proffessional, and the classics they keep in their showroom are beautiful. All the staff there seemed very knowledgeable about Alfa's past & present, and I got a pretty good deal I think. Will post again when I've picked up my new pride & joy.

Useful thread! I went round to these guys to book my 147 in for a 72,000 mile service, sticky gear linkage rebuild and heated seat switch sorting after hearing about them on here. They booked me in for the next day, it cost £280. Not sure how that rates, but they were quick and knew what they were talking about!

I'd definately use them again.

I'd like to second (or third or fourth...) Mike at A&M, just north of Fareham. He made my 147 like new. Cam-belt kit, transverse rod, new back box, variator, plugs, oil and air all for £717 and he picked her up and dropped her back and even gave her a clean. Highly recommended!

I have had a look through these pages to see if anyone is going to recommend S & H auto's in Poole?
Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Italian Car Spares and Repairs

I am due a full service a belt change in the not too distant. I have picked up the recommendation for Red Motori and don't mind traveling if required. But if these guys in Poole are any good then let me know!
They have a flashy website.............? (I know......I know, never judge a book and all that!):p

Cheers.

Great with Alfa, Fiat French stuff too!

Another vote for these guys.

Took my GTV in this week to get my rear suspension bushes done (£ouch) they inspected them throughly and decided that they didn't need doing just yet but just needed some lubrication to stop a couple of squeaks.

A lot of less honest dealers would have just done them anyway at a cost of hundreds.

Also collected and returned my car (15miles each way) and left me a 146ti loaner FOC.

top guys all round who really know there Alfa's.

Highly recommended, keeps all the old bits to show you too...!
Used Alfie at Heath Road Garage in Sandbach, Cheshire recently for quick service and MOT. Also needed passanger glove box replacing as some f*** recently smashed my passenger window and jimmed open the glove box to what was worth stealing.

Anyway, seemed like a friendly chap, only charged me £150 for the MOT and service on my 166 (83,000 miles) which I think is pretty competitive, and even let me borrow his ford escort as a free courtesy car while he worked on mine. (Not the most comfortable car to drive but was very appreciated).

However, the next morning I noticed that the car now takes an unusualy long time to heat up and then unless the aircon is on keeps on overheating. I've had the car for a few years now and never had this problem before, (infact in all these years on freezing cold mornings I'm normally still impressed by how quick my 166 would warm up, defrosting all the windows and mirrors in around 30secs and then the temp guage always being bang on the mid point).

I obviously gave Alfie a call to express my dissapointment, but he put it down to a blown fuse somewhere which would only cost £15 to replace and just a coincidence that its happend at the time of my service.

I've read a few recommendations for Alfie and Heath Road garage on this thread so just wondering what some of you think? I guess I'm just looking for reassurance really because I want to go back and use him again to replace my brake pads which urgently need doing. Quoted me £267 inc VAT for this which again I think seems pretty reasonalbe.

Try Veloces of London. Used them for a couple of years. Very obliging and although not the cheapest, they do compete well in the specialist market. Speak to Feliz or Vic. They are based in north London in East Barnet. Cheers:thumbs:

Not a recommendation for mechanical work, but I had accident damage repaired at Jones and Bramley, and they did an excellent job. The new bonnet fits better than the original one did!
They seem to do work for all the major insurance companies. They were also very helpful in sorting out my door water leak, which wasn't even their fault originally. See here.

Any recommendations for South London? I think people (me for one) have asked on other threads about Firella Motors in Clapham Road, but I haven't seen any feedback. I saw the recommendation for Sendon Motor Services - any others?
