I use GO ITALIA, an independant garage/mechanic on the outskirts of Maidstone in Kent. His name is Jamie and is Alfa Romeo trained so he specialises in Alfas and fiats, but will do any car. His prices are very reasonable and he really does know his stuff. If i ever have questions, he always gives me his honest opinion. He will also go to view a car (before you buy it) as long as you pay for his time....well worth it.
He will get any relevant parts, or is happy to fit any supplied by the customer.
I seriously reccommend Jamie to anybody and i have trusted both my other halfs 147 and all my Alfas i have owned since i have known about him (about 3 years). You won't be dissappointed with him or the quality of his work. His workmanship and knowledge are both second to none. Give him a call

Dorset good independant specialist.

New to alfa's and took my new 156 1.8 TS to RED MOTORI, near Blandford in dorset. Full service (incl plugs), cambelt with all tensioners etc and water pump £530. Very thorough, suggested things that may need doing in future (rad, undersealing, rear suspension arm).

Small place but they seem to have a real passion for alfa's. May get them to fit my unicorse when it arrives. MMMMMMM unicorse!

Not that they need the recommendation, as they already have a good rep on here, but a big thumbs up to Alfa Workshop in Royston. Preparing for a week away in Cornwall, I discovered yesterday that the radiator was leaking. Quick call to Teresa yesterday, booked in for today. Had to get up a bit early, but all now sorted and back home in time for lunch. So they've saved my week away at very short notice.

Was tinkering yesterday
morning, got fed up with the MCSF light that had been on for over a year (suspected EGR).. So on the off chance and without appointment popped to Sunnyside Garage in Chadwell Heath. Vic was happy to run a scan on the laptop there and then, and very kindly didn't want a penny, though I gave him a 'drink'. Always top service there and they love and know their Italian cars. Now tempted to get the remap once EGR is done...

Just had both the 147 and 159 serviced and belts done at Red Motori, Spetisbury, near Blanford Forum, Dorset.
Very thorough and helped me out with a s/h rear tailgate release on the 147 at scrapper prices.
Will need the front pads doing before the MOT in Sept and they have helpfully outlined my options. They know their stuff and bright red 156 courtesy cars too!

Again, Sunnyside Garage in Chadwell Heath, Romford. Great service and it's great for Alfa spotting. Two GT Juniors pulled in for work, drooled over them..

Nortwest area

Just spotted this old thread and thought I'd add my own recommendation:

Allitalia Ltd
Paxton Garage
Llewelyn Rd
Vron, Tanyfron
Wrexham
North Wales, UK
LL11 5TL

I'm pretty sure they've been mentioned before - but always worth another.

My 156 is there at the moment and as I live 30 miles away Howard has even lent me his SW until the work is done. Now that's good service for you.

Also a nice selection of Alfas and Lancias to have a poke round whilst waiting :)

May I recommend Blackboots & Wheels In Motion in Chesham, Bucks.

UK Tyres Online Cheap Car Tyres Shop | Blackboots Wheels in Motion

Always a first class service and competitive prices for tyres, a clean, well appointed waiting area and their geometry alignment service is, in my opinion second to none. Don't be intimidated by the supercars that they also check, they'll happily accomodate the most humble vehicle.

They've done all of my cars, recently checked-out and adjusted the chassis geometry on my used Alfa Mito, and also my MGF. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They even detected that the Mito during sometime in it's life had a significant thump on the nearside front axle, which affirmed that the dealer had the corresponding alloy wheel refurbished.

Have a look at their forum, titled 'Horror of the Week'
I know there are other elements in chosing a supplier from the motor trade than simply money but I recently bought 3 Avon ZZ3s for Mrs. Beard's 156 Veloce from a local tyre fitter. The cost was £70 each, fitted, balanced and with new valves. Setting aside the cheapo brands, Blackboots tyres of the same size go from £98 to £154! And that doesn't seem to include the fitting etc. Think I might be looking a little further afield if I lived down that neck of the woods.

I would like to recommend Heath Road Garage in Sandbach, 1st time in all my years of Alfa ownership that I've used an independent for servicing and well worth, much, much better than the local main dealer. My daughters mito will require servicing in a couple of months so that will be going to HRG.
We bought the 156 from there 3 years ago and although it hasn't done many miles since (15,000 approx.) it's been very reliable. It's taken on the rigours of commuting into Manchester, taken 4 adults to Nice.....and back, a distance of the best part of 2,000 miles without incident and a couple of weeks ago dealt with really heavy flooding in Northumberland. When it went in for tyres I took the opportunity to remove various types of vegetation from some unusual places in the suspension. That it succeeded in dealing with those situations is a testament to a marque often the butt of various people's humour with regards to reliability. On the other hand it could just be that I am a driving god!

Where was I? Oh yeah, the reason I was posting here is that the car came from Alfie at Heath Road Garage in the first place, has been serviced there for the last two years and a month ago had its 3 year service (belts etc) which cost £400!! And that included a MAF sensor, although he had a look at the plugs and decided that they didn't need replacing. If they were that good he could have not replaced them but still charged. Renews your faith in the motor trade.

Anybody recently used AlfaAid in Maidenhead? Would they recommend at all?
Probably slightly late, but I went there for a service a couple of years back now and found they were very expensive - think they wanted £400-odd for some 155 wishbones that I got done for about £170-ish in the end - and rather quick to reccomend immediately replacing things that everywhere else would simply say "keep an eye on".

I'd certainly recommend A For Alfa in Aylesbury instead - much cheaper & fantastic service.

I've heard a lot of good stories of their geometry setup etc.
Looking at the prices on their tyres on the website though, looks like its a mixed bag - not as bad as the example you've found but the Continentals I had fitted 6 months ago were £86, quoted about £110-ish at the big chains, they're £92 on there.

I can give another glowing recommendation to Firela Motors (Welcome to Firela Motors - Specialists in all Vehicles & Italian Cars) near Stockwell, SW9. They had my 147 in to clean out my scuttle drains (as the windscreen wiper bolts seemed fused on when I tried to get in there) and also stripped and replaced leaking seals on my selespeed actuator.

They did this on the day I dropped it in and were very friendly and communicative over what needed doing and the costs involved.

hi.
i was going to ask you guys where do i i get my alfa 147 serviced that i recently purchased from the macclesfield area?, the problem was soon answered when i trawled through the old posts about this subject.
(Heaths garage) & alfie as a lot of mentions & reccomendations from the alfa followers on this site.
When i sat down & looked at the service manual i was delighted surprised that the routine services had already been done by this garage that as a good reputation on this site, so it looks like i will be haveing a 120 miles round trip to get my future serviceing and jobs done.
It has made me feel a lot easier on whether i made a good purchase or not for my wife!!, i can say on the two weeks we have owned it that we are very happy with the purchase so far and the car runs very well & looks a little mint ball.
So i have no need to ask anyones advice this time around.
