Hello all, what should happen when a 3L v6 goes into the red line revs section?

Got carried away (safely) in 2nd gear and went to far in to the red line and the needle suddenly drops away/down again, does it dammage the engine? ( 2nd gear is too much fun off roundabouts!))

What is a safe rule with the red line?? ( don't go in it!?)

Thanks

That is the rev limiter. kills power to stop you breaking the engine. Its fine to hit this ocasionally going up the gears :). Coming down though :tut: you will break it big style.

It sounds awful, it feels awful, it's a slow way to drive (you're the other side of the power band by that time anyway) and is generally pointless.

But still feels strangely cool sometimes

Thanks, rev limiters are good things then :)...Still getting used to the v6, where the power is in the power band. There is still something though comforting about the engine that means that it comfortable and enjoyabe pootling around too.

Thanks all

Anti-social?? Reving the Busso is practicly a public service. We happy few V6 drivers should be getting a medal , the noise is just divine:lol:
