Dear members,

An important day in alfaowner.com history.
July the 8th should be remembered as the “Continued AO Independence day”
As some of you are more than aware, our ability (Geoff and I) to be actively involved in AO over the last weeks and months has been tougher and tougher, and this is mainly due to our busy careers and in Geoff’s case, his ability to create babies. Anyway this has made server/software enhancements take longer than they should and sometimes not happen as often as they should or at all. Speaking for us both here, we have often spent many an hour sat at a PC or laptop until the sun came up, but we still had to go to work that day. We did this to keep us ahead of the competition or to fix an error we had caused or promised to fix.

However, in an effort to make sure that this Club stays running smoothly, we have taken the decision to transfer ownership to a company called TyreForums who have already taken over the management of the site (basically taken over what Geoff and I have been doing for the last 11 years). Tyreforums is going to keep the site on their server bank which will help with uptime and performance as they have a dedicated team of people to do this. The site will continue to be run as it is.

When we started the journey to look for someone that could run alfaowner, we didn’t think we would find anyone. We thought about approaching Alfa Romeo but that would mean the site would lose its best quality which is its independence. However, we found Tyreforums and were very impressed with their professionalism, their network and their collection of sister sites they support is simply impressive. We whole heartily believe that this injection of resource will yield positive results which are much needed at AO as Geoff and I believe we have taken the site as far as we can, well certainly in a part time capacity. Just so that you can relax, we have it on good authority that AO as you see it today is how TyreForums like it and how it is likely to stay.

Geoff and I are sorry we could not tell anyone about the change sooner, this was simply because we didn’t want mixed messages out there. If you do have any concerns, and I guess some members will have questions (Geoff and I had loads), simply post those in this thread and the new community manager (Steve) will be along soon to put your minds at rest.

I hope you will continue to enjoy alfaowner for what we designed it to be, Geoff and I would like to personally thank you all (Well most of you ;)) for being fantastic members and to let you know that we really will miss running AO, no one will ever understand how hard this process has been on us both, we would like to take the time again to thank the members and staff for their support and dedication over the last decade and we hope you will wish us all the best in our new futures... which primarily will be a well earned rest :)

We are still alfaowners so we propose to be here for a little while yet.

Absolute Alfisti regards,

Ian & Geoff

Hello everyone,

My name is Steve Dawson and I own and operate a small company called tyreforums.com. The goal of my company is to help network communities like this one and to help make the technical back end department easier for all such sites.

In purchasing the forum, I have no intention in changing anything. My main priority is to help make the site easier to manage and relieve the work the previous owner had put into this. I have no intention in any staff changes, as you are well connected and well known to all of you, the entire community. I look forward to working along side them and all of you to help the site prosper and hopefully grow even more.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to post them up. Also, if you have any suggestions on any changes you feel can benefit the site, please feel free to let me and the rest of the staff know.

Thank you and look forward to working with you all,
Steve

Let me just state that I think this is probably good news.

I guess the question everybody would have is how does this make money for you as that does have potential implications for the site.

Thanks Ian & Geoff ( & all other Staff ) for making AO what it is today  I've enjoyed my time here & hopefully I'll continue to do so for the foreseeable future :D

Hi & Welcome To AO Steve  we are a friendly bunch mostly :D

PS Have you been made aware of The BORED :borg: yet

They are the ones who really run AO  ( Probably best you don't tell too many people that  )

Ian and Geoff, many thanks for all your hard work, and I hope you got a little something back. I know it won't have been a huge amount but you put a lot into this site. All the best for the future, hope we see you at a few meets.

Let's hope things don't change too much.

Cheers,

Nigel

Dear Mr Ian and Mr Geoff,

Thank you both for all your efforts over the years. You have both done
stirling work in guiding this place to where it is now and I trust that Mr Steve
really does appreciate what he has taken over. I aslo trust that the promises
made above regarding change will be kept.

Good luck for the future for all of you. I really do hope this works

Regards

David  ;)

Thanks a million Paul R. :): I'd hate to have to move on at my time of life as AO is such a homely place to be.:D Plus who on earth would put up with the ramblings of an old 'has been'? Not your average Face Book or Twitter'er participant for sure.:(:
