I have a GTV with the code light continuously on - thus it won't start. What a great invention by Alfa this was. I would like to check the antenna around the steering wheel column as this seems a good starting point. I've unhooked battery and reconnected etc.
Quick question - from first looks it seems that you have to remove the steering wheel/airbag to then remove the column cover to get to the antenna - is this correct?
Cheers, David

I had a very recent episode like this on my 2.0 GTV, i tried all the antenna stuff, battery disconect, relays, earth cleans, sorted it out by jiggling the wires for the connector blocks behind the panel in the passenger footwell, it was a 'dry soldered' joint problem.......

No, you can remove the column shrouds without having to remove the wheel/airbag. Just turn the wheel to access the 2 screws in the face of the shroud.

Resurrecting an old thread here, because I'm trying to get my steering column shroud off to find what's rattling around in there. I've done this bit:

you can remove the column shrouds without having to remove the wheel/airbag. Just turn the wheel to access the 2 screws in the face of the shroud.
... but nothing wants to budge - I've found there are also about 5 screws in the bottom of the shroud, some seem more recessed than others. Does anyone know if some/all of those need to be removed too to get inside? I don't want to go unscrewing things at random, in case something important drops off

The most exposed screw underneath the cowl is the one that fastens the lower half to the steering column. The other screws, all heavily recessed, fix the two halves together.

You won't do any damage removing the recessed and visible screws in the cowl. You do need to unlock the steering column and pull it all the way back towards the seat and as far down towards the floor as it will go to get the top half of the cowl out.

Yes it does. The screws in the bottom can be a bit fiddly getting back in.
