Kev and Longprest I cannot recommend strongly enough that you both get an expert opinion from someone who knows these cars inside out, someone like Auto Lusso, will save you money and time in the long run, only there is the small matter of the Irish Sea between me and them, I'd be outside their doors at 9 in the morning..........

Hugh myles how am I supposed to get to Bournemouth where ever autolusso is with a packered engine by 9 o'clock? I have already diagnosed the problem on my car, don't know if if you read the posts but I'm also on a budget and have to do the work myself.

No noises from clutch end - just kind of ocsicilating rumble/rattle from belt end when air-con or all electrical loads on and engine idle drops, going to change top belt pulley and see what develops - it will get worse before it brakes i'm sure
Any reliable independents up here in North Yorkshire - Leeds - Bradford - Preston area?

Thanks to the captain my problem is solved! Engine sounds sweet as a nut! I could shout from the roof tops, on closer inspection the rubber in side was totally shot wish I could post a pic to show you! Thanks again oh and for the other parts and the cuppa :):)

Hello Longprest,

1 is there any visible wobble when viewed from above or side on? (Engine running!)
2 are there any cracks/ perishing or splits in the rubber centre; try and see if you can get a look at the rear - although some versions of this part have a metal backing plate, but if not, check for same fault there.

If the answer to any of the above is yes, your bottom pulley is due for replacement.

Hope that helps

These are almost service parts on The JTD's they are used by a large number of car makers with the torque produced they suffer in the same manner as the DMF...

Hello Longprest,

It's a bit more involved than that, if my memory serves; top engine mount off, engine mount drivers side, lower engine a bit, loosen tensioner & move towards cabin( there's your big spanner), insert a 6 mm locking pin, then release front tension pulley wheel, then I think you'll be able to remove the aux belt...dammit, sure I've forgotten something. But to quote the fast show " I am very, very, drunk!"

Hope that helpsh!
