At the moment we service and repair a few Alfas for locals but are about to make a decision to really gear-up to do more and advertise as such.
Classic restoration just doesn't help cash-flow so we keep our costs down by specialising in servicing, brakes, suspension and minor repairs. I have done quite a few cam-belt jobs and will invest in more specialist tools if need be.
I don't expect promises obviously but would like to guage the market in and around the Liskeard area so this was the obvious place to ask.
I look forward to your replies!
Our current website is:
Liskeard Classic Cars
I will try and update it over the next couple of days as I notice that the MGB is still "for sale" and it sold in August!!!
Cheers

Ali,

Since the demise of Ongaro there doesn't appear to be a Alfa specialist on Cornwall, in Devon the only specialist is N.E Vehicle repairs in Plymouth

I would be interested in paying you a visit, my 156 needs a bit of TLC before long as well as a cambelt change...

i would say go for it, word of mouth seems to be the most powerful advertisment on AO ;)

Thanks for the replies so far chaps.
I am in the process of getting some new cam belt locking tools made by Kee Engineering that are made out of something stronger than cheese. We have had to replace the damn things almost every time we have used them and I ain't paying Alfas price!!
I also have an ex-racer friend working on a rose-joint solution for the upper rear wishbones on GTVs....I will keep you posted.
We have been in Mallorca for a week and we hired a Yaris diesel for a day...Lovely drive but oh how I wished to have had my GTV instead!

Update:
Thanks chaps....We have had a handfull of enquiries and don't see any reason why we shouldn't "Go for it".
I will post some all inclusive prices as soon as I can get some figures together.
We appreciate that potential customers may come from anything up to 40 miles away and will be offering a while you wait (or sample the delights of Liskeard) service that includes free use of all our office facilities (Internet, phone, coffee, loo, fax etc) if you want to stay and get on with some work.
Can I just add that we are fully insured, fully qualified and treat all customers and of course their vehicles with the respect and care that they deserve.
Cheers

Hello PP
Thanks....I did see it. I don't think we are close enough to each other to cause any conflicts and we are going to concentrate on the service, brakes and suspension side of things rather than major rebuilds. To give you an idea, we should be able to do a full service on a TS (GTV or 156/147) for around £160 including new plugs and whatever oil the customer wants. We try and avoid Selenia oils simply because of price .v. quality. In our opinion Selenia degrades too quickly compared with either Valvoline or Morris's.
Thanks for the good wishes and you are more than welcome to pop in for a coffee if you are in the Liskeard area.
Al
