Thought I'd throw this one out there.

If buying either a used or new Alfa in [insert country here] wasn't an option for whatever reason, what car would you most likely be driving now?

I'll start. Probably an Audi, in all likelihood a TT or TTs.

Hmmm...

Difficult one.

If it wasn't a Fiat..

I would have to have a long think.

I quite like BMW 3 series Coupes, Renaultsport Clio's, Seat Ibiza Cupra R, something like that.

streching the budget a bit ( but not impossible)

Maserati 222, ghibli, QP4 or 3200 GT

The natural alternative to lets say an Alfa GT is a Fiat Coupe (no modern Fiat im afraid) I had to sell my Alfa GT as I had too many cars but could not do without an Italian modern(ish) coupe so had to buy a Fiat Coupe 20VT.

If we are talking brand new cars id go with your option an Audi TTS.

For me the car has to look right and be fun to drive, both my Alfas do that for me.

Other would be an older, before they went all straight lines & curves mixed up, BMW but not sure about the image their drivers have.
