Is it really the best 2 litre 3 door hatchback I can get for my money, £7-8000?

Depends on your definition of the best

Get the car that suits your needs, this may not be the car that is best in it's class but you'll be happier with it.

It's the second best....

....After the Brera.

:D

Seriously though, what are you considering
outside of the Alfa line?

For 7-8,000 I think a Seat Leon 1.8T would be worth a look, although they might all be 5-door?
The age he's looking at, they are all 5-doors. Cupra R is a very fun machine tho.

Ros, you know in your heart you want a 147. It is certainly by far still the best looking in the class, even if you might get a few extra BHP elsewhere.

A 2.0ts more than holds its own, surely yesterdays run is evidence of that. I didn't even fully wring out mine yesterday and i was flying. Even after almost 4 years of ownership it still delivers the thrills of when i first bought it, I was bouncing off the walls when i got home i'd had so much fun.

This month's EVO mag has a hot hatch group test.
No Alfa though the usual suspects, Focus (2.5l) Renault Clio, Civic etc.
