for 28 years (nearly 29) today ... he approached me as I left the hospital
and said "Excuse me" ... I had no idea who he was and said "I saw you earlier,
did we go to the same comp?"

... I still couldn't place him and asked "which comp did you go to?"

He said "Pelsall comp" - that was the one but ... I still couldn't place him,
but something was familiar ... I asked him his name (Paul ...) and suddenly I
could see all the features in his face and remembered him instantly from
what's got to be 1983 sixth form, we exchanged a few polite words:)

What I'm asking is would you have ease still recognising someone from nearly
30 years ago or might you pass them by without noticing? ... I nearly did today:eek:

Not in touch with anyone from school, but I did bump into a fella I vaguely recognised today. He wasn't from school, I reckon we worked in the same company about 20 years ago

I had my 20 year school reunion last summer and recognised everyone apart from one who, worryingly, I'd known 'rather well'. Good giggle though and made for a fun icebreaker!

I know what you mean ... I wish I could have stayed longer with the bloke mentioned
in the original post ... I even recall his and my best friends, and most of the girls at school too suddenly as I recognised who he was ... it all came back to me like a snapped
finger yesterday ---

damn ... I should have talked to him more, but I think he's gone back to Plymouth
- sometimes life take's you by surprise that you don't know how to catch it

I think you recognise people if they are in context.

If you were simply out shopping and not expecting
to see anyone you know it is slightly less likely.

If you go to a school reunion it would be more worrying
if you didn't recognise people.
