Ring around, no doubt you'll get insurance at 18 but you might have to pay a bit for it.. Its a shame but its the same for all of us, I was in the same boat as you 3 years ago, had to wait til I'd just turned 19 to be able to afford my car, even tho I passed only a few months after my 17th..

I used Tesco's a few years back, they were cheap for me at the time, but now with directline as it was cheaper at my age bracket

One way of getting round age restrictions is to go with specialist insurance, one of my mates was driving around in a V8 Pontian Trans Am Firebord when he was 22 because he insured it as a classic under a limited mileage policy.

Worth a try

Also worth a try getting yourself on as a named driver who acquires bonus on a relatives insurance for your car. There's always a way. Good luck mate.

Yeah, try Confused.com mate, I always try them out. I'm with Admiral now and they insure me on absolutely ANYTHING.

I have been quoted for a BMW 750iL (5.4 V12 with 326BHP) and a Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12. Both of which only required a few hundred quid extra to get insured on. And I was 20 at the time.

Gav, you just need to shop around, mate.

Every year I do the insurance thing and I generally only use three websites;
www.confused.com
www.insuresupermarket.com
and www.gocompare.com

All three should just about cover you for the major insurers. The next step will be brokers, but that means a lot of ringing around.

Good luck. :)

Try www.bell.co.uk.
They were pretty cheap for me on my 33, and you can be insured on any other car third party for about £40.
Also put your mum n dad on as named drivers, my dad dropped it by 300 n my sis whos 22 dropped it by 100.
