The ones in the link worked fine. I won't put up a pic as they are the same as the others but all good so far and at a good price

I took a punt on these, they looked similar to the ones you posted (ish) LINK

I went for these, not as expensive as the previous ones. Hope they work

I only ordered them a couple of hours ago, when they come in I'll let you know what they're like.

But have you fitted them? If so, please give a report and post a picture.

They are obviously not the "same thing", the differences are obvious to me. Plenty of cheap W5W LEDs around and plenty of bad reports.
I've got these (from the same seller) in my 145. I don't have a photo but the bulbs are:

a) Very white - the same colour as 5000k HID.
b) Polarity sensitive (one worked, the other needed to be fitted the other way round when I fitted them... 50:50 chance of a first time "correct").
c) Still going strong (3 weeks) and no problems at all.

can anyone help please.

I need to order lights but I seem to be getting conflicting sizes for some.

HID HB3 - got it.
fogs size?
license plate bulb size?

thanks.
I had a look today and the rear licence plate lights are indeed T10/501 bulbs.

If you've never removed them before (which I'm guessing you haven't), be careful. Prise them out from the right most side (as that is where the metal retaining clip is) with a flat bladed screwdriver or similar. :)

And, as already said, the fogs are H3 bulbs, I tried some cheap leds in there but didn't work so I just threw in some blue vision bulbs.

Again, these are the bulbs I bought from this seller, came quick and they're great, especially when you look at the price! I've used them now in the sidelights, puddle lights and now the rear number plate lights. I will go on to use them for an led conversion to the binnacle of my V70 too in good time. The only real issue with them is that they will only work one way round, so a 50/50 chance they'll work straight away, probably be a pain when doing the dash!

I did this change at the weekend and it was really quite easy - £25.99 from londoncolour on eBay (I chose 4300K)

Now looking for similar colour sidelights to make the light colour consistent - any current recommendations?

EDIT - ended up ordering some of those from a Chinese seller on eBay linked by AcidicDavey above, £3.31 for 20 delivered.

LED's have a limited life-span and you shouldn't read the 50,000 hours etc. blurb when installing in a vehicle.
Inconsistent voltages (engine cranking with lights on for example) kill LED's much sooner than you can imagine.
Having said that, I'm still a big fan of LED's but the point is - don't buy a set of 2, by spares as well.

Second point worth mentioning is brightness and that's measure in Lumens.
Different LED chips have different values of Lumens.
I always prefer bright LED's and of course, the brighter they are the more watts they use.
CREE based LED's are one of the brightest and there are more COB based LED's on the market now as well.
CREE tend to be more projector based LED's.

COB based LED's are LED's much closer together on the PCB and appear more like one large LED!

I'm sure this example offers bulbs far too long but it's just for example and you can find shorter bulbs.

I was hoping to pick-up a pair of used headlights, crack them open after heating them briefly in the oven and install some LED flexi-tubes. I know there is perhaps a bit of space around the main beam assembly worth considering but I haven't had a chance to look close up yet.

As an alternative and I haven't measure sizes yet, these caught my eye and reminded me of a previous project I did on my Volvo headlights.

I will post some results when I've completed what I'm doing.

Have you got a link to the HID's you bought?

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the LED flexible tube around the head lights as it will be hidden by the bonnet.

I have looked at the idea of trying to "update" the front of the spider with DRL's but I really cant see where you could put any LED strip without it looking stuck on Halfords crap-a-like and just not factory.

The worst thing I see on the roads is the nailed on LED's that just look plain ugly and obviously there as an afterthought. I don't think that is an area that the GTV/Spider should go down.

(I stand to be corrected if someone comes up with a nice solution, but I doubt it!)
