Ok, I can travel miles and miles on a quick run and the tempertaure barely hits 75. a few miles of stop and start and the temp maxes out at 110 when both fans kick in and bring it back down to around 100/105. it will carry on yo-yoing between 100 and 110 until an open road when i kick-it and eventually temperature falls to around 90.

now guys, can somebody please post a picture of where these resistors to the fan are?

by the way, the Rad seems clean, but god knows really. It's a 156 V6 2001X Reg with 75K miles.

It doesn't use any water etc.. and no obviously faults.
I have searched these threads but because i'm new to alfas and a bit thick to boot, i don't know what these damn resistors look like!

cheers guys

Sounds like you have a stuck open thermostat, and a knackered radiator.

You really need to get the undertray off and have a look at the rad from underneath, as it might well look ok at the very top, but be missing its fins where you can't see it.
