Looks like this particuliar research is going to be halted... this research maywell be able to help an awful lot of sick people in the future...

should we continue with this research or ban it ?

Continue.

It's just human genetic material in an
"incubating" animal egg.

So long as it's controlled and licenced I don't
see the problem. Even moves scientists away
from using left-over IVF human embryos. Thereby defusing the
religious persons' arguments against. ;)

BTW Your question don't be matching the answers, MB.

Yes they should, scientific research needs more funding, i bet the people who disagree would'nt if their child needed the technology to stay alive.

agree Nev...the key is that it needs to be properly "policed"...though how you actually go about that is another matter...

I think HFEA is up to the job.
The way it was set up and run is an example
of how Quangos should always work.

I don't know, its a tricky one and I'm not familiar enough with the debate to have an opinion. In pricipal I'm in favour of research, but I do think its needs to be controlled.

BY the way Mike, if someone votes 'Yes' on this poll, are they in favour or not

sorry for the confusion...

if you vote yes, it means you are in favour to continue the research

I'm all for it, someone should try a hybrid alfa/toyota. Would have soul, yet be super reliable. (or would be bland and unreliable)

:tut: remember the Arna.... (I know - Nissan not Toyota, but still)

Pretty much agree with everyone else so far - continue, subject to proper controls.

Arna..... [shudder]

Anyway from what I understand these aren't
even real hybrid (Chimera).

All they've done is used the animal egg cell wall
to incubate some human genetic material.
They aren't in any way viable embryos.

exactly pc rears its ugly head again, some do -gooders like bush moan about using embryos for research which i presume can be from abortions, isnt it better to at least make use of them rather than destroy them.

That's nothing to do with so-called "PC"
This is a religious problem.

Dogma states that a soul is created
at the point of conception. So they have to
speak out against contraception, abortion etc.
