HRW with engine on - s/w update?

My car's in for its 3 year service shortly and I've asked that all s/w updates are applied; for reasons of time these haven't been done at previous services. The dealer has quite reasonably asked if there's something in particular I'm after...

I'm sure I recall a post from someone stating that a recent update had enabled the heated rear windscreen to come on regardless of the battery SOC (with the engine running). I can't be the only one peeved that this isn't currently the case - last winter I could switch on heated rear seats, steering wheel, etc, but not the safety-critical HRW! I do have a ctek conditioner which fixes this, but don't really want to be using this weekly. Can anyone confirm such an update exists and if so when it was issued, which ECU it applies to, etc? I'd be most grateful - I have failed to find this post after 30 mins in the search. Thanks to all!

Anything to do with HRW and SOC is controlled by the Body Computer Module (BCM) so if that is updated the latest version it will be what you are asking. But...... I had the BCM updated to latest version on my earlier 2.0 and the HRW will still only work above ~67% (?? can't remember exact figure) SOC. I don't recall this ever being changed, think some just suspected it did.

I have BCM software version 0718 installed on my early 2017 Quadrifoglio and the HRW always comes on when the engine is running irrespective of battery State of Charge. I got upgraded to that version in early November 2019, but 0718 has, I believe, existed for over a year.

I think it is @epsonix who has identified that there is a newer BCM version than 0718 and has suggested that HRW operation is less good with newer BCM software than 0718, which would be perverse.

not quite right. I had 714, 718 and 724 and at least on 714 and 724 HRW was not working when IBS charge status is shown below 50% in Giulia. 718 I can't say for now, got the update end of winter and I had new battery added the same time, and 724 I gained before next winter.

Well having said that the HRW always seems to come on in my recent Quadrifoglio compared to the 2.0 Super where it behaved like I mentioned earlier. I think I was actually on 718 in the earlier car!

Guys, within MES, where can I find which BCM software version I have? I've looked everywhere but can't see anything that resembles the numbers you are quoting..

I had 724 on my earlier car. @MR D4VE , if you connect to the BCM, it's on the first page that displays.

Thanks @metalgod23, found it. This is what confused me, I was looking for a number starting 07**, but I have version 0602.
Should I be worried? Should I insist on an update when it's in for service next month? Or should I just live with it as everything works OK?
If I want to insist on an update, is there anything I should say doesn't work properly that will convince them to update it?
I distinctly remember when I purchased the car in Sept 2018 asking if all relevant software updates had been applied, however, this suggests, to me at least, that they may not have been.

if you have 2.0 you should been updated to 724 as part of recall 8242 (for range/fuel level changed indication) in autumn 2019. rev 602 was in mar 2018 cars, in apr 2018 rev 714 was used for prod cars(e. mine). 602 is already pretty mature, i had car recently for modifications and retrofits, one of earliest 2016 productions with rev 402 and user didnt complained for anything, I had to send him to do updates as he wanted retrofit ACC so later he came back to me with BCM 724.

Should have for what? Just for having newest or some specific retrofits? All is good with your? what engine? what manufacturing date?

@epsonix I have the 2.2, 180 diesel. I also added ACC myself without problem. But I think you are suggesting if I have no problems with 0602, I should leave it?
yes, you can leave it, good enough and modern enough - I'm not aware what real issues 724 rev solves (not counting things like slightly changed fuel level/remaining mileage indication/recall which was the case for 2.0 engines).

Bro, I (and huge majority) may not know even existence of newer firmwares than you have in your car (especially as you haven't listed anything). dispute on newer firmwares usually applies to earliest produciton models like 2016 or H1 2017 where really it matter (and people dig) - say one was not able to retrofit ACC or Race mode or at least in Race flappy paddles did not work in Race mode. Good enough was to bring to 2017 or late 2017 firmwares and that is something more or less where we are in some knowledge of revisions based on experience.
A lot of ECUs do not update more than say 2017/2018 edge firmwares no matter that newer firmwares are there, just update is linked with your VIN (Really OEM config) - e.g. if you didn't have ACC, older cars woudl update to firmware for ABS max rev 8401 (After doing tricks with proxi restore etc), no matter that in later 2018 there were already revs 8541 or higher. Withe H2 2019 I think you can't dream about much newer- soon they started face-lift, slightly different platform. Anyway, once you are in dealership, ask if there are any optional updates and ask for info on what was updated from what SW no/rev to which and what it may be correcting (not sure if such knowledge would be available), we will welcome any knowledgede on this.

As the OP, thanks for all responses. I've connected an old version of MES and find that I'm on version 706. So I'll definitely request 718 or - should the dealer insist - 724. I never got a recall notice...
However, I happened to click on the error tab to be told that there is a defect in the HRW relay! So maybe I have a fault after all, although the HRW always worked a few times after any battery charge/condition. As I have a few months left on the warranty I'll look to get this investigated.
BTW, at the end of the fault description there's a note "dashboard warning light was not activated for this fault". Why ever not?
