002.009.055 is in post #1... I don't believe there's a difference between europe/nafta there.
Thank you. I'll try to update to 002.009.055.

I have also tried to download license and maps via maps.mopar.eu and didn't succeed because of VIN number is from USA market. I could potentially download them using EU VIN number, taken from somewhere, but I have doubts whether map updates will be successful. The license could be for particular VIN number.

1) Is there any way to download maps updates for cars from USA market? Especially EU maps!? Is there any chance that "TomTom" could provide them?
2) In such a case - how to get 'owners manual' update?

Maps are a problem as you've found out for non-europe owners.... Apparently there is still no possibility for NAFTA owners to get new maps, they are currently outdated by 2 or 3 years... :(
From the maps.mopar.eu site, you can only download European maps, and you do need to register with the VIN number of your (european) car, as the map license is tied to this and used during the map update. Non-europe vins are not recognised.
If you're updating from a 002.xxx.xxx firmware version, at least the existing maps (and manual) will remain working. Updating from 001.xxx.xxx would erase the installed map and manual.
Don't know what your current firmware version is of course.
Perhaps you could get updated maps via the dealer, not sure. I was contacted by my dealer recently, offering to update the maps for free. I don't know if that would have involved the license/vin, as I didn't take him up on it . The dealer would also have done the update in the "standard" way, via usb stick.

What's the consensus on the another update to .055 in the pipeline? Or is this the final version?
Would love to turn off the driver-seat moving back and crushing the rear passengers legs when I open the door (most times I wait till they're out, but sometimes forget :|)

So far haven't seen anything yet for old hardware, other then some specific versions for bugfixes in NAFTA and australia (resp x.056 and x.061)
I get the impression all development regarding new options has just stopped on old hardware.
Easy entry on/off is only available for the new hardware.

Yep, guessed as much; but it is quite an important feature that shouldn't take too much to tweak the software - makes me cross when Alfa drop the 'early investors'; they should show more loyalty!
I like to drive in 'F1' position so my seat is quite far back to start with - my girls always complained in my old AMG 250 Coupe - so when I open the door it's like "Dad! Dad! My legs!" :(

Tried hitting the 'memory' button to stop it moving, which works, but as soon as you get out and shut the door the seat moves back anyway...

Interesting observations.... Updated the software, no issues - thank you for the link, went to Moparmaps to update the maps, says update available 1036, so I downloaded it put it on a suitable USB stick & the car says that the map on the stick is older than that on the car (971.7832). Now that to me sounds like they are maps from two different systems. Could it be that the nav system I have is different to what Alfa think I have?

No, maps are independant of the infotainment software/hardware version. Only difference is between 6,5 and 8.8 inch navi system (for Europe)
If you register on the mopar site with the correct vin for your car, you should be able to download the latest map and license file for your car....
971 you mention was one of the first, around 2016, see : TomTom map updates
I assume there were no other files on your USB stick ;)
As 1036 download I get f.i. on my 8.8" system :

Thanks, I've downloaded the map again onto a new, newly formatted memory stick & its uploaded the new map. Strange really as I used the same memory stick as I updated the software with, deleted files, reformatted and downloaded the maps onto the memory stick but the car said there were no valid maps on the memory sticks. I can only assume it was either a dodgy memory stick or a dodgy download. The good news is the map is up-to-date. Seeing as the car is 3 years old in January this could be the last free update so it was important to make sure it was done.

Thanks again for your help and advice.:thumbu p:

Does it mean that US maps (NAFTA cars) could be updated/replaced with European maps? (I know that VIN number is the obstacle but let assume I'll replace licence file with one with correct VIN)

In theory, yes, after all they are just TomTom maps ....
However, on the european mopar website only the European maps are available, so you couldn't get USA maps there.....

Hacking a licence file to change the VIN is non-trivial as I suspect the VIN in the file will be encrypted.

I presume if you entered a US car's VIN in the Mopar EU site you'd not get anywhere.

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia U.S. update issue

So I was due for a 2nd oil change and scheduled an appointment at the dealer to have 2nd service done and to look into some issues I have been having with my vehicle. My infotainment system would reboot at bare minimum once a week and sometimes twice. I also has some issue with my ACC/FCW and I would get a warning light (image below). Apparently, it will come on when it was really bright/sunny as it never happens at night or when its early morning or early evening. Sometimes as I am driving and driving in the direction of sunlight it will appear as well.

I let the service guy at the dealer know about these 2 issues and he said don't worry we have updates for that and will flash them. When I arrrived to pick up my car the guy said that I will need to give the satelite a few minutes to update before I can use my navigation. So I get into my car and I noticed the infotainment looked different (more presets and not the way I set it up with split screen). I also noticed that my mileage was flashing. I drove all the way home and played with the settings at each traffic light. I drove for about 20 minutes. The navigation didn't turn on, gave me some warning about no maps installed (I think, I can go double check if needed) I used to have a digital car manual in the car section and now it says it is not available for the language installed. So not sure if I should give it a few days to let all these things reslve itself or if there is an issue I need to take back to the dealer to fix.

I beleive I have an older infotainment system as I bought my car in April/may of 2017. The original version I had on my car was 001.011.020 and now its 002.009.059 (images below).

Any ideas?

Mileage flashing is an indication that something went wrong in the update by dealer. He shouldn't have given it back to you in that condition.

Also, as described in the post #1 of this thread, updating from a version 001.x.x to a version 002.x.x , as in your case, will zap the maps and onboard manual. this explains why your navi currently does not work. At minimum you will need to (re)install the maps. You can do this yourself, see again post #1 ;)
This might explain your flashing odometer, as the navi flags an error, though not sure. Might still need a proxy alignment, but I'd try installing the maps first.....

edit: just saw your sig. if you're in the USA, you will need to see the dealer about maps. In Europe you can just download and update yourself.

yes, you can go to 056.x.x You can probably also go to 085.x.x , see f.i. post #18, #20 etc.....
This does not however mean you automatically get AA/ACP, this requires more then just the software update, there are some threads on this.....
However, starting from v 056.x.x AA/ACP is theoretically possible ;)

Thank you for the response! I have another question about it: should I pay special attention to component misalignment? I read somewhere that for some versions you need to realign some components... is that necessary? I am very tempted especially because having such a beautiful and functional 8.8" system would be great to upgrade it!

You're probably talking about proxi alignment. That's only required if you change hardware.

Ah perfect! So, I will proceed. Do you suggest to upgrade firmware first, then the map?
