though not mechanically minded, after self diognosing( or what I think ) I think I know what made the engine managment light come on, which is the maf.

Just wondering how hard is it to fit a maf on a alfa gt jtdm??

It's tricky to get at, the battery and tray has to come out, you'll see the MAF bolted to the side of the airbox, the lower bolt is tough to get at, it's close to the radiator, one of those snake/flexible extension thingies makes life easier.

Having said that, the engine management light coming on is not necessaily the MAF, it can come on for all sorts of reasons. You really need to connect to the ECU and read the code. You could take it to a garage to be read, for which you will be mugged, you could see if an AO member in your area will offer, or you could do it yourself with a laptop, the trial version of FiatECUScan and a suitable K-Line cable.

All the best

u need to really make sure its the maf as they are expensive and it could be just a waste of money, if u unplug it and it runs better it could be the maf

any other symptoms other than engine managment light ?

I got what felt like flats spots when I was accelerating but will take it out for another run today just round the bock to confirm.

@ pubslinger, didnt realise you could do it your self that is good to know, also what would be a suitable K-line cable, is there a specific 1 I should look for ?? :)

Alternatively is there anyone in the Hull area that would be willing to offer:)

Thanks jason
