So the deal with VW and the GTi was that I'd pay for the GTi in full first and when the GT was ready and fixed they'd "buy it"/ get rid of it for me.

The used car manager called around for me today to the guys who take all their old cars and trade ins.

I got offered 55k without the 90 000 service being done, and 60k with the service done:wow:

Flip I might aswell keep the thing and if it bombs out again just sell as parts or something.

Brake pads are chowed so getting new ones fitted today

Alfi its probably worth about R90 to R100k if you sell privately ,as benzina I would also pay R70-75k as I could use it to give to a friend who is renting at the moment.

Yeah - that is one place the stealers steal - more expensive than powerbrake disks, track grade pads, braided hoses AND race grade fluid - OK you have to fit yourself.

I agree with you Gertie changing brakes at dealers is a no no . My Pajero developed a shake while braking so I took it back to the dealer (its still under motorplan) they skimmed the disks but did not even put new pads on ! ( they have about 5k left) I had to complain to them to change the disks and pads, took 2 visits so if one takes the time involved to sort the problem out its probably cheaper for me just to leave it.
By the way alfie have you tried to advertize your GT ? I am sure you will sell it for more than my offer of R75k , but if you are not interested in the problems with a private deal my offer still stands.
