+1 Don’t wait at all. Hopefully no water will have forced its way anywhere unfortunate, and it will start. Get the engine hot - that’ll dry it. Then decide what to do with bits that were missed. Blast again or just wipe.

Personally, I just wipe round the engine bay with a damp cloth, once or twice a year. Keeps it looking tidy.

I prefer using my hand with some cloths and rags. Maybe fill a small pressure sprayer or old spray bottle with water to help rinse of cleaners that you use. Then you can target the water a little better than a larger pressure sprayer.
