Hi all,
I've just had my 156 lowered by 30mm a few days ago, and have noticed a burning smell coming from the rear of the car (when filling up with petrol). Both rear alloys are very hot to touch, fronts are fine.

Jacked the rear up and both wheels seem to be rotating freely!

Anyone got any ideas why rear alloys are getting so hot????

How tight is your handbrake cable.

I might be way off here, but when the car is on the ground the new lower stance may be causing the cable to pull on the calipers. Which is making the rears brakes come on slightly. If you see what I mean.

It would also explain why the wheel turns when it is jacked up.

i see what you mean, thats something i thought of! I slackened the handbrake cable somewhat but still got the problem:(

Thanks for the advice though :)

Easy to check ... stop in slope and release your hand brake ... you ll find out if the car moves freely or not ;)

However i doubt it has anything to do with lowering ... as i did the same exchange recently without any problems.

Cheers.
