So....after a year of neglecting my alfa because i have zero spare time ever....she has now decided to bite me in the ass :)

Over the last few weeks i have noticed things start to deteriorate, and still failed to sort anything. So now I think the car has decided to force my hand to take more notice. So i have a list of issues, which I will be addressing:

1. On accelleration, the car makes a kind of hissing/raspy sound and does feel slightly less powerful although i dont know if thats just my mind playing tricks.
2. When i get to around 40mph the car feels shakey, steering wheel has a slight vibration too.
3. When braking i get vibrations and the same kind of shakey sensation - Thinking this might mean I need new discs.

At the same time as all this I think im due a cambelt and whilst shes falling apart on me i think it makes sense to do this (2007 with 90k on the clock). So I need to find the right part. Does anybody know if this is correct for the GT Blackline JTDm 1.9: Cam belt kit and the water pump. But there are 2 cam belt kits, one for CF3 and one for CF4. Does anybody know the difference?

Also going to give the car a DIY service. Priced up an air filter, oil filter for £30.50 on auto lusso but again need to know if this fuel filter is right because its for CF3 (what ever that is) which is another £20. Also need to double check which oil i should use? Ive seen some threads which people talk about changing to "the right oil" as opposed to what it says in the book, but i cant find out what that "right oil" is :) Is it 5w 40?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice! Guess this will teach me that i cant be a part time alfa lover and should keep ontop of things!

1. Check for airleaks on the turbo hoses - will give hissing/whistling noise and loss of power.

2. Check for play in the suspension wishbone bushes, mine can be a bit jiggly at speed but I know I'm due a new set of upper and lower arms in the not too distant future!

3. Pads and discs are cheap, might as well just do em!

Easiest way to tell the difference between CF3 and CF4 is to look under the bonnet at the intake manifold. If it's black and plastic, you have the CF4 engine. I believe your '07 Blackline will be a CF4 like mine, but worth double checking. Else give Autolusso a call and they should be able to help you out with your numberplate/VIN.

5W40 is good for the GT JTDm, Autolusso sell some good stuff (Fuchs GT1 XTL) for a very good price which I'd just stick on the order with the filters.
Thanks for the reply mate. I will be spending some time investigating this tomorrow so I will report back with further questions no doubt lol

I had the upper wishbones changed early in the year so they should be ok. Just checked on auto lusso and lower wishbones are £75 each, rear pads £25 per set, front pads £29 per set. Turbo hoses £65 and £47.50. All this plus cambelt kit and service. Could be an expensive month for me lol
