Sorry, it's another hesitation thread but after looking at previous I'm confused.

Here's my problem: car acclelerates fine but at around 50 (usually in 5th) I experience a hesitation/jerk/hiccup. This can happen when I take my foot off the accelerator too. No problem at 70/80/90 in 6th. Very occasionally I get the same problem at lower speeds. Also the idle is a little uneven - but I might be getting paranoid. Smoke (black) sometimes appears at hard acceleration, but that may be normal?

Car was serviced 6k ago and fuel filter replaced (so they told me). I've previously (about 1yr ago) taken off the egr and cleaned it and have to say it didn't look particularly sooty so not sure if it's faulty?

Or could it be the throttle body that needs cleaning?

Finally, I really noticed this when the turbo hose was replaced several months ago - related?


Before I start tinkering - anyone experienced the same??

I had a similar thing on my old JTD stationwagon - I can't remember the exact diagnosis but I'm pretty certain it was one of the injector seals worn. A good way to check is to take of the plastic engine cover and see if any of the injectors are coated in carbon.

Mine was hesitate around 2000rpm, once above that no problem. I was going to get it fixed at the next service but a Taxi hit me and wrote it off before then!!!

I had pretty much the same symptons. I have just got back from my Indi. New EGR valve has been fitted and it goes great again. Even feels to pick up sharper but that could just be me!
