had a 156 for a few years now and would like to seek out a few remedies for variator & squeeky front suspension

welcome to AO dude...a few have used an engine flush and used 10w 60w to cure the variator "diesel" noise...if the noise only lasts a few secs when starting up its not much of a problem, more embarrassing and will only slightly reduce top end revs...if you want to change it is usually done when changing the cambelt and tensioners every 36k or 3 years, whichever is sooner, very little extra in labour, just the cost of the part
