Hi All

Thought I'd say hi. I'm Richard and I live in sunny (today at least) south Wales.

I bought my first Alfa yesterday, a 1998 146ti. I had a couple of hundred mile drive home with it and have to say I love it. There's a couple of things that I need to get fixed (slight exhaust blow and the thermostat needs replacing), but it handled the motorway no probs.

I've come from 10 years of owning Saabs (old ones, pre-GM) so the 146 is a complete change for me, but I'm already enjoying it.

Anyway, just a quick "hello" and I look forward to finding out lots of useful things and meeting some good people!

The thing I love about my 146 is that despite being a "modern" car, it's quirky! It reminds me of my 900. For instance, it has rear electric windows but the switches are in the most ridiculous place ever! The rear passengers really have to stretch just to operate them! In an age where all cars are the same, it's nice to have something that is different and, of course, the engine noise! Despite the blowing exhaust, I can still hear this glorious noise, yet when waiting at traffic lights, I can hardly hear it.

It's not as big, comfy or well equipped as my Saabs were, but it's so much fun!
