The Germans took over Parker’s and pretty quickly removed the forum which at the time was full of stories about VW problems.

I have it on good authority that several publishers looked at HJ and considered it a “spent force”anyway.

They can create terrible depreciation on their competitors and boost their own! They have sold too many cars on pcp deals which should lower their values but...

It’s no different to Autocar referring to Golf-sized or Tiguan-sized cars and their subtle reinforcement of the fact that VW make the definitive car of any class or type. Honest John had gone into receivership so a VW owned Autotrader competitor will benefit from controlling a source of “impartial info” at a bargain price.

What is the connection between the website and the column in the Daily Telegraph? The DT column still seems to be published.

The Telegraph will be getting more VW advertising revenue in future. Some of it will be editorial and some will be ads.
