WoW, that sound like a big job!, and very expensive, i dont think you could use the same fuel lines or tank. The diesel models have a fuel filter and the petrol versions dont, so i am not sure where it would be mounted. The fuel cap and filling point would be different as well! That alone sounds like $5000, trying to find parts would be difficult on a 166. Is it a 3.0 v24??

Whats the reason you want diesel? for more economical drive? if so just convert to LPG but i am not sure if the Alfas like that, ask around.

I wast thinking the same, how hard can it be, get and engine and gearbox from a 156, use the EPR parts disc to cross reference driveshafts etc and sorted,

but then

what about the fuel tank and lines

and the engine loom

instument panel, I doubt the diesel revs to 7000rpm :D

radiator will have to be swapped

ECU, therefore immobiliser, therefore keys etc etc

engine mounts

and this if it fits in a RHD installation (apparently it does, but who knows)

and that is why people fit LPG instead!

got to be easier to get an LHD and convert it, swapping the lights, steering, pedals, dash and extending a few wires is a piece of cake by comparison, and those parts are plentiful in breakers yards, so cheap. Prices in Italy for a diesel start at 1800 euros, iteresting to see three times more diesels available than petrols.
