Hi. Its time to change all the tyres on my 03 plate Spider, 2 litre twinnie
At the moment they are the standard, 205 x 50 x 16. Am thinking of changing the size to 205 x 55 x 16 just to 'bulk' it out a bit more. I understand that the speedo will be slightly out but not to much.
Are there other size's I should look at as well?
Have looked at the trye size calculators, but was hoping for some proper advise from people who have done it!

I have 205-55/16 on my Spider. I did it to help improve the ride, however did not seem to much difference and the minimal difference in tyre rotation only makes the optimistic speedo a little more accurate. This is the maximum size to fit under the front suspension legs, there is just enough clearance.

I run 205/55/16 tyres and consider that there is no downside whatsoever. I was happy that I had them fitted just over a year ago when I had a tyre wrecked by potholes on a lousy Spanish motorway, I was able to easily find a new tyre at a nearby tyre fitters as 205/55/16 is a common size whilst 205/55/16 is most definitely not, also the 55 profile is cheaper.

Managed to bag a set of primacy 4 from costco for ÂŁ211 fitted though they were a bit funny over the size change and refused to fit, so I asked would they fit to just rims they said yes so I took them off striped tyres off and took rims there and they fitted tyres, bizzare really

It's even worse in the USA - even if the same size tyre but not recommended fit for the car, Costco will not fit them to a car.
