OK so ive found one that is just perfect for me. Few problems with it though and I'd like to know how major these problems are.

Going to see it tomorrow morning but from a brief conversation with the current owner I got some more info, ill just list the main points.

• 02 plate
• 38,000 miles
• Silver
• Red leather interior
• 2.0 Lusso TS
• MOT till 04/10
• Serviced in Novemeber 09
• NO handbook/service history
• NO Tax
• £3,195
• Supposedly in working order
• GTV Cup wings with the inlets
• Only 1 key

Should I walk away right now and keep looking or go for it and get it checked over by specialist? What sort of cost could I expect for a check over like this?

Any help appreciated!

i'm not too hot on prices these days, but, the cambelt interval is now recommended to be 36k or 3 tears, whichever is sooner. if it has had the belts done, great! (you really need a receipt detailing this, or ring the garage that did the service) it has 38k on it, so were they done?
you say, supposedly in working order, i don't want to sound harsh, but if yo know nothing about cars, get a specialist to have a look, or a good mate who does know. hell, some of the forum members have been known to help out on that front for a beer or two the one key isn't TOO much of an issue, depending on which key it is. there should be 4 - 2 normal, do everything keys, 1 master code key (burgundy colour) and a valet key which SHOULDN'T open the boot or glovebox (but i have seen several that do?????) depending on the key, you can get them cut and coded at timpsons for about £30. tax not an issue as you know, but maybe see if the guy will put it in for an MOT and if it passes you'll cover the cost? dunno, just thinking out loud. sorry it is so long. have a look at the buyers guide, that covers most things. and good luck :thumbs:

edit: sorry, misread the NO service history. as above, might be better off keep looking for a cherished one.

Ok that settles that one then. Its currently SORNed and only used occaisonaly so yeah i think ill drop the person a text and let it slide, looked good though

Ive read alot of buyers guides on this one and it seems that service history is key, as is having the master key which he wasnt sure about.

Anyone able to give price estimates for ones like this in buyable condition? What should i be looking to pay?

try the classifieds on here, always looked after cars on a specific owner forum. or there is piston heads, and good old autotrader. the best advice i've seen (i think from msgtv, but could be wrong) is don't jump too soon, try a few before you buy, and be prepared to travel for the right one. they are amazing cars, and are well worth the wait. besides, the longer it takes, the more money you save up for upgrades!!

Just a quick 'heads up'...I'm not sure what our budget is but if you fancy a trip doon sooth I've just put my (much loved) P3 on Pistonheads.

FSH, keys, logbook etc all there - and no expense spared on upkeep.

That one is the closest to me on autotrader, but I couldn't live with that colour leather so didn't even think about going to have a look at it.

But I dont mind going to have a little look for anyone on here if you like.
