My 2001 147 has started to leak Power Steering Fluid from a small pin hole in one of the silver pipes connecting the flexi-hose at the coil to the flexi hose at the rack. Looks like it has been repaired before with metal glue of some sort.

Does anyone know if the silver pipe can be replaced easily or do I have to buy the hoses and pipe as complete assemembly?. Is a big job?

Any help would be great

I had it changed last year to my 156. I am fairly sure 147 uses same part. I think the part is both pipe and hoses.

Not 100% sure about the cost, but i think £150 all inc.. This was Danish prices mind you, which are about 10-20% more then UK prices.

BTW,i was told the common reason they leak is due contact with curbs etc.. so make sure you got the Engine guard fitted.

Alfa dealer quoted me £350, specialist did it for about £150 to £175.

Common fault corrosion of the pipes, latest pipes are supposed to be coated better I think.

thanks for the info. The underbelly cover is missing from my car so I'll try and get one fitted. I can see how the pipe can get damaged as it does sit quite low at the front.

I'll phone around and see how much the assembly costs and try and fit it myself. In the mean time I'll need to try and stop the fluid leak, any ideas?
