My friends 146ti, was off the road for a couple of years due to a cracked sump and laziness.

I agreed to change the sump and carry out a full service and belt/variator change.

When I picked up the car it ran a bit rough, I put it down to the car not running for approx 3 years (however with a little oil, petrol and a charged battery it started first attempt).

I have since changed the belts, variator, filters, and spark plugs.
When started from cold the car idles around 1500 rpm, as you drive the car and the temp rises the revs rise to 2000 rpm.

Any advice on what it could be would be greatly appreiciated :)

Sounds like the Idle Stepper Motor has may be faulty. However, first try unplugging the MAF and running the engine with it disconnected to see if the idle problem goes away because a faulty MAF can also interfere with the idle speed.
