I am preparing to move to France in the next few months, my GT has not got the ground clearance for French winters so I'm looking for a (LHD) replacement.
I have seen a car that fits the bill but know nothing about it.Can anyone on here help?

Its basically a 156 sportwagon with raised suspension and 4 wheel drive.

What he says. Crosswagon was never sold in UK.

Although it has a raised suspension it's not raised very much (could be wrong, but about 1.5"?). It's mainly a smoke-and-mirrors package to make it look like an off-roader. Could suit your purpose though.

156 Crosswagons were sold in Europe till the end of 2007, long after other 156's had been chopped. As to whether they were still making them then or they had been stockpiled since the 156 stopped production in late 2005 I'm not sure.

It's an AWD 156 with higher ground clearance than the usual sportwagon

Distinctive is a middle trim level so leather won't be standard.

Sport/Crosswagons were being made and sold until the 159 SW came on stream.

They are rare, but not that rare.

If you google.fr around "les announce" there are quite a few for sale at the moment.
