Definately sounds like a temperature related problem.................might be temp sensor or crank sensor or cam sensor or anything breaking down once its got hot

Have you had it on a diagnostic yet

I would try and get it to a dealer/specialist and rigged to a diagnostics as Speedy says, it will save a lot of time and hassel as in theory the problem should pop up straight away :D

Im going to be different and say its the lambda causing fuel starvation when hot!

Do you get the code light come up when the engine dies? if so the error may be stored for the diagnostics to fish out, but im not sure if the Q4s had this system like twinsparks etc

Wouldnt have thought the diagnostics thing would be portable but someone else would know better! :)

Good luck with it and let us know how you get on

Had a similar problem on a previous car (Rover).

Turned out to be the crank position sensor failing when it got warm.

Something sill to try is if the fuel tank breather is blocked. When the engine cuts out open the fuel filler release pressure. If the engine restarts then you've got the problem. If not then all of the above.

crankshaft (TDC) sensor, located on the front pully it will have either a white or black lead on it.
