The (Alfa) radio and connect both use different (specific) security codes..... You probably do not have the correct security code for the connect+, or your car was not supplied ex-factory with the connect+, so the system is not recognised.
The Alfa radio's will work in any Alfa, using the correct security code. The connect+ nav only works if the car bodycomputer was coded for it ex-factory.

What makes you think its not connected ?

The connect+ nav only works if the car bodycomputer was coded for it ex-factory.
This is NOT correct jwq, as reading through the thread will confirm, its long been established that any connect unit will work in any 147 or GT with the security code and this method is "plug & play" - everything just works, nav displays on MFD etc. If the car was not fitted with a connect from the factory the mileage will flash due to an unknown node being on the can bus system, a delay timer that powers up the connect unit AFTER the CAN Bus system has done its start up checks will prevent this. Its only not having the security code that can cause problems.

can you e-mail me a zipped copy, also of the firmware, I presume xx.yy version so 25.16?
Yeah with an email addressto send it to I can, it has to be zipped cos its too big for email otherwise. You have version xx.yy rather than x.yy ?

Thanks for your answer, but I haven't the possibility to put the security code. It never ask me.

Thanks for the interest of my problem. I think its not connected because it power off after 20 min. It don't switch on with ignition, i'm forced to switch off with the button.

ODB informations are not on the screen too, and it's blocked on italian language. My ODB is french. I have read that the language change with the car setting...

Sounds like your car was not fitted with the connect from factory, so connect is not recognised. There is a partial work-around though. You will need to add a switched +12 to connector A4 on the connect, which should currently have no wire going to it . you can f.i. use a wire from sigarette lighter connection.

This switched +12 needs to be applied at least 4 seconds after ignition switches on, to assure that the bodycomputer has finished the startup check and does not "see" the connect.
You can do this in 2 ways, a) manually, just add a switch to the wire going to A4 and switch on at least 4 seconds after ignition on, or b) use a time delay relay that automatically switches power to A4 4+ seconds after ignition is switched on....

method a) is a bit of a hassle, but does work. Method b) works automatically.

Sounds like its not connected to the CAN Bus system, can you uplaod a pic of the plug on your car ?

jwq, the fact that his car wasnt fitted with Connect at the factory is irrelevant. Also your solution is incorrect for this situation, this solution is only for situations where the mileage flashes, it wont help here because the CAN Bus system is not even detecting the unit.

It won't, because it won't see a switch-on signal as there's no switched +12 present

Not having a switched wire on the plug might well be the problem, but this is rare - most 147s and GTs do have that wire on the connector, whether fitted with CN+ or not.

Not being fitted with CN+ at the factory is not the problem - I ve fitted CN+ to many cars that didnt have it fitted from the factory and never once had the problem he s describing.

I believe that is a software problem and for this reason i want to flash the firmware again but i can't find the firmware for my version. As you can see at the photos my firmware version is 5.00. I also checked all the fuses and the one back of the console, i remove the battery for half and hour but nothing. If anyone can help me i will appreciate. My email for the firmware if someone has it is [email protected] Thank you in advance.

Interesting - how long have you ad it ? Has it always worked ok ? Cos version 5 has always been considered a "home made" or modified version and is known to have errors, at least on the mp3 playing side (read this thread for details). Consequently none of us are sending that version out, the latest known working version is 4.08.

I never made a firmware update . I bought the car from alfa romeo with version 5.00 but suddenly all the audio feautures like radio / cd player are gray , i can't push the settings but all the console seems ok , all the buttons working. I try also to push the voice commads key and i take a VR is in error state. Really a mystery. For this reason i want to try to reflash the firmware. The firmware that you emailed me it's the correct for my connect nav? I asked you because i have already have the version 5.00. thank you for helping me.

RadioNav hidden service menu

HELP NEEDED

Since three weeks my son got his first car, a beautiful fully loaded MiTO 1.4TB 155HP with RadioNav..... Unfortunately something went wrong with his new friend.
Hopefully you can help me out: it concerns a Alfa Mito 2009 with OEM RadioNAV And steering wheel control without BOSE (Quadlock connector), NO Blue & Me. As a result of a bad firmware update (stopped after the first part of the update) we have no 'life' (except the lights around the turning buttons) anymore in our RadioNav. We tried everything we heave read or heard so far:

1 press the return button for several seconds
2 tried another firmware CD
3 Press the Powerbutton and the little hidden reset switch at the metal housing of the radio

So, My main question: does anybody knows a button sequence to enter a kind of a service menu? (like the Fiat RAdio Nav+ system). Or has anyone have an idea to help the radio find the firmware again?

Secondly
If we can't find any solution we probably need to change the radioset. We would need to install a double din ISO set and hope to keep the steering wheel controls. The most cables offered on the web aren't capable of connecting the ultra-strange Quadlock and keep the steering wheel controls at the same time. Does anyone knows about a cable which we could use to connect an ISO-set AND keep the steering weel controls?

Hopefully some of you MiTo-specialist are willing and able to help us out.

KR,

Robin

SOLVED (thx to a Greek Alfist, THX!!)!!!
So first you have to insert the firmware cd and after press the reset button in the hole at the bottom of the metal frame when you have taken out the radio) and the right turning button at the front all together for at least 10 seconds. Than disconnect the battery and connect it again and it will restart to updating the firmware.
