Hi all,

I’ve recently bought a GTV so thought I’d say hello. It’s a 98 R Silver Twin Spark Lusso.

It was my sister in laws and they had it from nearly new and it’s only done about 75,000 miles. It failed it’s MOT last year a few things and then just sat on the drive for a year until we sorted out me buying it - which seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now I’m not really sure what to do with it  ! I've got 4 other Alfas in various states of disrepair - sorry i mean restoration  so plenty of other things to do so not really sure what to do with this one !

It runs really well but is due for a cambelt. It also need some brake pipes, rear suspension bushes, front pads and discs, 3 tyres – and that’s what I know about.

So do it up or break for spares ????:confused:

That looks quite nice.

If you want someone here to take it on it may be worth posting a photo of the MoT failure slip or the number of it so potential buyers can check it themselves online, but I've been around at least two cars that have failed on different things at different MoT test stations......

Thanks for the feedback guys. Having looked online i don't think there is an actual MOT fail sheet, I think it had a pre-MOT which showed up the issues. I think the plan of action is to spend the next few days going over it all and see exactly what needs doing, then make decision.

I agree it would be a shame to break it as the engine, body and interior are all in great condition - maybe a long winter project ??

Well I managed to spend some time having a good look underneath today and also checked out the rear suspension. Looks like brake pipes are all ok after all. Big issue is that it needs a rear subframe. I took one of the rear arms off and this is the state of the subframe :wow: :

The other side looks like it's not going to be much better:

On top of that it needs front pads and discs, three tyres, cambelt changing and of course there'll always be odds and ends I haven't noticed. So unfortunately it looks like I'll be breaking it after all. :(

Anybody need anything ? It's got full black leather interior in excellent condition with only minor wear to the drivers seat. Engine is fantastic, just needs belts doing ???
