Hi all,

Quick one....

I may replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket unit and was wondering the following:

- Which head units will allow me to still use the steering wheel controls with minimum effort on fitting

- Can I remove the controls from the steering wheel and replace the plastic bits with those that dont have controls (if they even exist?)

Cheers

Virtually all mid-high spec aftermarket headunits have input sockets for a steering wheel control interface. Check the specs of the headunits you wish to buy.

Use an interface like the Connects2 CTSAR003.2 (and suitable patch lead that matches the socket in the new headunit) and it will be plug and play.

But yes, you could replace the steering wheel controls with 'blank' panels from a low spec Alfa 147.

:)
