Hi,

Hoping someone can help me out here.

Basically, for Christmas I got a quality brass snow foam lance, along with 5L of this;

UK Valet Cherry Snow Foam with Wax- 5L

I didn't pick the foam - this was ordered by my girlfriend along with the lance.

After playing about, I got some quality thick foam to stick for around 5 mins before blasting off to a good sheen. It really does seem like quality stuff.

Today I have gone around the car with Autoglym Tar Remover, followed by two coats of SRP.

I have a bottle of Extra Gloss Protection, but I'm tempted by the HD Wax which has a deeper shine and longer durability.

This is my concern; Will the snow foam wear down the Wax? I've read that PH Neutral snow foams are the way forward but I was at least hoping to get some use out of the 5 litres I have currently?

Basically, what is the life expectancy of HD Wax?

And if I were to use my Snow Foam, how much would the life expectancy be reduced by, if at all?

Any further tips would be really appreciated - I'm looking for as near as I can a "touch free" wash.

Once again cheers for any advice given! :)

i wouldn't think snow foam would reduce your waxes longevity. tfr would but not a normal pre wash snow foam.

I have found that a single coat of HD wax lasts about 6 months, that is with weekly washing using snowfoam and Autoglym wash and conditioner.

The more base coats you can build up the better it lasts.

If you wash the car then you will always remove some wax. But if you just washed the car.. why not whizz round and wax it again... having "clayed" and "filled" as necessary...? :)

If the paint is in top condition, it doesn't take long at all..

Also a little thing I found out with HD wax............ It CAN be applied by a DA on a low setting and lasts a damn long time, if you apply in an equal 1' X 1' square. 2 or 3 passes will give a great layering.

HD wax is awesome but it seems that by mistake it works greater in terms of longevity and finish with the intervention of a DA.............. And it takes much less time...

Just my 5pence worth

Good tip.. :) I have some old styley Simoniz paste wax which I don't often use, since it's a nightmare to buff off. I hadn't thought to buff it with a DA.... might pull the stuff out of retirement! :D

Cheers lads and sorry for the long reply!

I'm happy to hear I can use my snowfoam, I have bought some Aquawax which is supposed to be applied after washing during the drying of the car.

It's designed to sit on top of Extra Gloss Protection or HD Wax and act as both a wax, and it makes the HD Wax/ EGP last longer... apparently? I read some reviews, it seemed good and if I do this every wash or at least every other wash then hopefully the results should last longer!
